Hola! Let me introduce myself. My name is Karina Robinson. A long, long time ago, (12 years ago!!! time flies!!!!) I was working as a journalist in my country Venezuela. I was “living the life” so I thought. Covering show business, I had access to movie premieres, concerts, you name it. But as time pass, I honestly got bored. I didn’t really want to expend the rest of my life editing news such as “Elton John just got a new puppy” or reviewing the latest Britney Spears’s cd (nothing wrong with that, I still checking People magazine everyday)
I decided to come to the U.S to learn English and after a while I thought it would be a great idea to get a degree in Visual Communication and Graphic Design, considering that in my years as a journalist I was always very involved with the creative department, organizing meetings to discuss ideas for artwork; overseeing the layouts, appearance and content of feature articles; attending photo shoots, etc.
After I got my degree in Graphic Design, I worked for a couple years at American Greetings, a childhood dream come true after years of being obsessed with Strawberry Shortcake and Care Bears. In 2007 I got married, two years later I became Carmen’s mom, and in 2012 my baby boy Tobias (a.k.a Mr. T) was born. Designing logos, stationery, wedding cards, websites, all of these things still a very important part of my life, but since I became a mom, I have developed a whole new set of skills. Changing diapers, making bottles, playing princesses, childproofing the house…the list is endless.
This blog is a very cool way to show my passion for graphic design and also to tell people how my life as an Internet junkie, a Facebook stalker (it’s a joke, smile!), and a storytime mom, inspires my work and takes my creativity to a whole new level.
